At Westchester Child Development Center (WCDC), we know that strong communication skills open doors for children—both in the classroom and in life. That’s why our Public Speaking & Debate program, designed with support from Columbia University’s Teachers College, has become one of our most popular enrichment offerings.
This Saturday, we are excited to invite parents into the classroom for a special Public Speaking Observation Day. For 30 minutes, families will have the chance to see firsthand how our students practice storytelling, speech structuring, and debate in a supportive environment.

What Parents Will See
Confidence in Action: Students presenting short speeches on topics they care about.
Engaged Learning: Kids participating in fun debate games that build listening and reasoning skills.
Supportive Coaching: Our experienced instructors guiding students to find their voice and speak with clarity.
Meet Mr. Lawrence
Our Public Speaking program is led by Mr. Lawrence, a passionate educator with years of experience helping children find their voice. With a background in communications and performance, he specializes in creating an encouraging classroom atmosphere where every child feels confident to stand up and speak. Parents consistently share how his energy, patience, and thoughtful coaching transform even the shyest students into enthusiastic presenters.

Why Observation Matters
Parents often tell us how surprised they are at the transformation they see in their children—from shy and quiet to expressive and confident. Observation Day offers a unique window into that journey, showing you how your child is building skills that will benefit them for years to come.
