What to Learn

At WCDC, we believe language is a bridge to understanding the world and connected communities. Our immersive Spanish program equips children with not only linguistic skills but also confidence and cultural empathy, setting them up for lifelong success.

Theme: “Hola, Mundo!” (Hello, World!)

Focus: Listening & Speaking

  • Greetings: Hola, Adiós, Buenos días, Buenas noches

  • Numbers 1–10

  • Colors and shapes

  • Family members: mamá, papá, hermano/a

  • Classroom objects: lápiz, papel, libro

  • Songs: Los Pollitos, Cabeza Hombros Rodillas Pies

Activities: Flashcards, songs, movement games, storytelling, coloring

Theme: “Mi Mundo” (My World)

Focus: Vocabulary Expansion & Simple Sentences

  • Days of the week and weather

  • Emotions and feelings: feliz, triste, cansado/a

  • Animals: farm and pets

  • Food vocabulary

  • Basic sentence structure: Yo tengo…, Me gusta…

Activities: Weather chart, role play, puppet shows, interactive read-alouds

Theme: “Mi Rutina” (My Daily Life)

Focus: Reading Practice & Descriptive Language

  • Daily routines: despertarse, comer, dormir

  • Telling time (hour only)

  • Clothing and seasons

  • Places in the community

  • Introduction to cultural traditions (e.g. Día de los Muertos)

Activities: Calendar routines, draw-your-day journals, dressing dolls for weather

Theme: “Explorando el Mundo” (Exploring the World)

Focus: Reading & Writing Sentences

  • Travel vocabulary: countries, transportation, directions

  • Compare cultures: greetings, holidays, foods

  • Describing people and places (adjectives & nouns)

  • Simple present tense verbs: ser, tener, ir

  • Writing basic paragraphs

Activities: Passport projects, cultural presentations, online scavenger hunts
