🌟 Building Future Innovators: LEGO Spike Class and FIRST LEGO League (FLL) competition Prep 🌟

For children 7 years and older, LEGO Robotics is not just playtime—it’s the start of a journey into the exciting world of STEM learning, creativity, and teamwork. At WCDC, our Saturday LEGO Spike Class is designed to inspire young minds, develop problem-solving skills, and prepare them for the prestigious FIRST LEGO League (FLL) competition.

What is the LEGO Spike Class?

Our LEGO Spike Class combines the fun of building with the challenge of coding and engineering. Using the LEGO Spike Essential and Spike Prime kits, students learn to design, build, and program robots that can perform specific tasks and solve real-world challenges.

Through hands-on activities and interactive lessons, children not only develop STEM skills but also build their confidence, creativity, and logical thinking.

Preparing for the FIRST LEGO League (FLL)

The FIRST LEGO League (FLL) is an internationally renowned robotics competition that introduces young learners to the challenges of robotics, coding, and teamwork. FLL focuses on three key areas:1️⃣ Robot Design: Students build and program LEGO robots to complete missions on a thematic playing field.2️⃣ Innovation Project: Teams identify real-world problems, research solutions, and present their findings.3️⃣ Core Values: Collaboration, teamwork, and innovation are at the heart of FLL.

At WCDC, we prepare young engineers step-by-step to confidently participate in FLL:

How WCDC Sets Students Up for Success

🚀 Project-Based LearningOur curriculum uses modular, project-based lessons where students tackle challenges similar to FLL missions. They learn to think critically and iterate their designs—key skills for the competition.

👨‍🏫 Expert CoachingStudents are guided by experienced instructors who understand FLL’s structure, rules, and expectations. From robot design to coding strategies, our teachers ensure students are well-prepared to meet competition standards.

🤖 Hands-On PracticeEvery Saturday, students work collaboratively in teams to design, test, and improve their robots. They gain valuable problem-solving experience while learning about engineering principles like sensors, motors, and loops in coding.

🎯 Teamwork and Core ValuesFLL is not just about robots—it’s about teamwork. We instill essential collaboration and communication skills by encouraging students to work as a team, brainstorm solutions, and help one another.
