For children 7 years and older, LEGO Robotics is not just playtimeā€”itā€™s the start of a journey into the exciting world of STEM learning, creativity, and teamwork. At WCDC, our Saturday LEGO Spike ClassĀ is designed to inspire young minds, develop problem-solving skills, and prepare them for the prestigious FIRST LEGO League (FLL)Ā competition.

What is the LEGO Spike Class?

Our LEGO Spike Class combines the fun of building with the challenge of coding and engineering. Using the LEGO Spike EssentialĀ and Spike Prime kits, students learn to design, build, and program robots that can perform specific tasks and solve real-world challenges.

Through hands-on activities and interactive lessons, children not only develop STEM skills but also build their confidence, creativity, and logical thinking.

Preparing for the FIRST LEGO League (FLL)

The FIRST LEGO League (FLL)Ā is an internationally renowned robotics competition that introduces young learners to the challenges of robotics, coding, and teamwork. FLL focuses on three key areas:1ļøāƒ£ Robot Design: Students build and program LEGO robots to complete missions on a thematic playing field.2ļøāƒ£ Innovation Project: Teams identify real-world problems, research solutions, and present their findings.3ļøāƒ£ Core Values: Collaboration, teamwork, and innovation are at the heart of FLL.

At WCDC, we prepare young engineers step-by-stepĀ to confidently participate in FLL:

How WCDC Sets Students Up for Success

šŸš€ Project-Based LearningOur curriculum uses modular, project-based lessonsĀ where students tackle challenges similar to FLL missions. They learn to think critically and iterate their designsā€”key skills for the competition.

šŸ‘Øā€šŸ« Expert CoachingStudents are guided by experienced instructors who understand FLLā€™s structure, rules, and expectations. From robot design to coding strategies, our teachers ensure students are well-prepared to meet competition standards.

šŸ¤– Hands-On PracticeEvery Saturday, students work collaboratively in teams to design, test, and improveĀ their robots. They gain valuable problem-solving experience while learning about engineering principles like sensors, motors, and loops in coding.

šŸŽÆ Teamwork and Core ValuesFLL is not just about robotsā€”itā€™s about teamwork. We instill essential collaboration and communication skills by encouraging students to work as a team, brainstorm solutions, and help one another.

Why WCDC LEGO Spike Class?
