What Sets WCDC’s Spanish Class Apart

Many elementary schools offer limited Spanish exposure—often a once‑weekly class focused on basic vocabulary and worksheets. At Westchester Child Development Center (WCDC), our Monday afterschool Spanish class for K–5 outshines traditional programs by providing:

  • Native‑Level Fluency: Unlike generalist teachers who may lack deep language expertise, our classes are led by native‑speaking instructors trained in IB and PBL methodologies.

  • Intensive Immersion: Elementary programs typically meet 30–45 minutes per week. WCDC offers a full hour each Monday with 8 students max, ensuring sustained language immersion and rapid progress.

  • Project‑Based Learning (PBL): Instead of rote drills, students tackle hands‑on projects—building a Spanish recipe book, designing a cultural festival display, or presenting a mini telenovela—reinforcing vocabulary in authentic contexts.

  • Cultural Deep‑Dive: Elementary schools may touch on holidays superficially. At WCDC, each module includes crafts, music, storytelling, and field trips (e.g., virtual visits to Spanish‑speaking countries) for meaningful cultural understanding.

  • Personalized Feedback: With small cohorts, our instructors tailor instruction and track each child’s speaking, listening, reading, and writing milestones, far beyond the general leveled groups in public school.
