Westchester, NY — Westchester Child Development Center (WCDC) is proud to celebrate another major milestone in its LEGO Robotics program. The WCDC FireFox Team has officially advanced to the FIRST LEGO League (FLL) Albany Regional Competition. In addition to qualifying for the next round, the team was honored with the Motivate Award, one of the most meaningful recognitions in FLL competitions.
This achievement further reinforces WCDC’s reputation as a leading STEM education provider for elementary students in Westchester County.

What Is the FLL Motivate Award?
The Motivate Award recognizes teams that best embody the FIRST LEGO League Core Values, including:
Teamwork and collaboration
Gracious professionalism
Inclusion and positive team culture
Enthusiasm for learning and innovation
Winning this award means the FireFox Team stood out not only for their technical abilities, but also for their character, communication skills, and positive impact on other teams and the competition community.
From Weekly Training to Regional Recognition
The FireFox Team’s success is the result of season-long preparation through WCDC’s structured LEGO Challenge program. Students participate in:
Hands-on robot design and engineering using LEGO SPIKE Prime
Block-based coding with sensors, loops, and conditionals
Mission strategy optimization and real-world problem solving
Innovation project research and presentation coaching
Team-building, mock judging sessions, and communication practice
With small team sizes and personalized coaching, WCDC ensures every child has the opportunity to contribute, grow, and lead.
A Growing Legacy of FLL Success at WCDC
The FireFox Team now joins other successful WCDC LEGO teams that have advanced in competitive FLL seasons, reflecting the program’s consistent focus on:
STEM skill development
Confidence-building through public speaking and presentations
Growth mindset and iterative learning
Collaboration over competition
Advancing to the Albany Regional Competition places the FireFox Team among top-performing teams in New York State and highlights the effectiveness of WCDC’s LEGO learning pathway from LEGO Explore (K–2) to LEGO Challenge (Grades 3+).

Why LEGO Robotics at WCDC Makes a Difference
Parents choose WCDC’s LEGO Robotics and FLL programs because they go beyond coding and robotics. Students develop:
Critical thinking and engineering mindset
Communication and leadership skills
Creativity and resilience
A strong foundation for future STEM learning
Most importantly, children learn that success is built through teamwork, curiosity, and perseverance.
Congratulations, FireFox Team!
WCDC extends heartfelt congratulations to the FireFox Team, their dedicated coaches, and supportive families. Winning the Motivate Award and advancing to the Regional Competition is an achievement worth celebrating—and just the beginning of what these young innovators can accomplish.
