Seamless Summer Backup Care: Book WCDC Summer Camp via Bright Horizons!

Summer should be a time of excitement, discovery, and unforgettable fun for children! For working parents, covering gaps in childcare can sometimes be a challenge, but the Westchester Child Development Center (WCDC) is thrilled to announce a solution: Families can now utilize their Bright Horizons (BH) employer benefits to book our summer camps and upcoming gap-coverage day camps!

Whether you need coverage for a sudden gap in your schedule or are looking to supplement your child's summer with an engaging environment, WCDC offers a choice-driven camp experience that blends learning with absolute fun.

💡 Learn with Fun: A Choice-Driven Experience

At WCDC, we believe summer learning should be an exciting adventure! Our Summer Challenge Camp empowers K–5 campers to choose their learning pathways while working toward meaningful, tangible weekly projects. Rather than traditional classroom learning, our campers build real skills through hands-on STEM, creative design, and interactive play.

🤖 Monday–Thursday: Dynamic Challenge Rotations

When you book Bright Horizons backup care for our Monday through Thursday camp days (9:00 AM to 5:00 PM), your child will dive into a perfectly balanced schedule of tech, creativity, and recreation:

  • Morning Core STEM Block: Campers kick off the day building and programming robots using LEGO SPIKE kits, learning coding foundations in Scratch and Python, and playing interactive games to understand AI concepts.

  • Afternoon Challenge Courses: Students participate in a broad rotation of activities, including 3D Printing, Canva Design Studio, LEGO Stop-Motion Animation, and Engineering Escape Rooms.

  • Active Play: Supervised outdoor recreation and sports ensure campers stay active and burn off energy every single day.

🚌 Friday Field Trips: Real-World Exploration!

The fun doesn't stop on campus! For families enrolled through the end of the week, every Friday is Field Trip Day. We take our learning on the road with hands-on exploration directly aligned with our weekly mission themes.

Our incredible 2026 field trip destinations include:

  • Bronx Zoo (Theme: BioBots & Nature Tech)

  • The Met (Theme: Art Meets AI)

  • Intrepid Museum (Theme: Machines That Move)

  • Natural History Museum (Theme: Earth & Data Science)

  • Alstede Farm (Theme: Smart Farming Systems)

  • Stamford Museum (Theme: Space, Art & Nature)

  • Queens County Farm (Theme: Sustainability Lab)

  • LEGOLAND (Theme: LEGO Engineering World)

Lego Special for Summer

Join us this summer for an exciting "Lego Special" featuring three Saturday Boot Camps on August 15, August 22, and August 29, from 9 AM to 5 PM. These immersive sessions are designed to inspire creativity and teamwork as participants engage in hands-on building challenges and collaborative projects.

Additionally, our "Intro to FLL" (First Lego League) program will continue on Saturday afternoons until August 8, from 2:30 PM to 4:00 PM EST, providing a fantastic opportunity for young builders to learn about robotics and programming in a fun, supportive environment.
